Sudan Ancient Kingdoms on the Nile 3 October 1996 – 6 January 1997 As a European cultural project, this exhibition was jointly organized by the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung and the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, and with more than 450 objects offered the most comprehensive overview of ancient Sudan to date. In addition to loans from Khartoum, the exhibition was supplemented with artworks from collections in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Poznan, Berlin and Munich. Following the Munich and Paris presentations, the exhibition was also shown at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, the Ensemble Conventuel des Jacobins in Toulouse, and the Reiss Museum in Mannheim.
