Sudan Ancient Kingdoms on the Nile 3 October 1996 – 6 January 1997 This exhibition was organized jointly by the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung and the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris and, with more than 450 objects, offered the most comprehensive overview of ancient Sudan until then. In addition to loans from Khartoum, the exhibition was supplemented with works of art from collections in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Poznan, Berlin and Munich. Following the Munich and Paris presentations, the exhibition was shown at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, the Ensemble Conventuel des Jacobins in Toulouse and the Reiss Museum in Mannheim.
