Zuloaga's Early Years

From Parisian Modernism to Spanish Tradition

Lecture by Mikel Lertxundi Galiana, Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao.

The lecture will be held in Spanish with simultaneous German translation.
At the Instituto Cervantes, Alfons-Goppel-Straße 7. Participation is free, no registration required.

In his lecture, Mikel Lertxundi, curator at the Museo des Bellas Artes de Bilbao, talks about Ignacio Zuloaga’s early years and his search for his own style. He experimented with the variety of trends he experienced in Paris in the 1890s – naturalism, impressionism, pointillism and symbolism. The various formal and conceptual discoveries of this period gradually led him onto his own path: to the sobriety, transcendence and tragedy that would ultimately link his work to the Spanish pictorial tradition

Guided tour for families

A time travel to Spain to Elena and Enrique

Guieded tour for families in German.

Girl or grandmother, peasant or nobleman, torero or princess – the Spanish painter Ignacio Zuloaga painted all the people of his time. We look at his paintings and travel with them to early 20th century Spain, where typical Spanish towns, villages and landscapes also await us. The vividness of the paintings and their strong, clear colors cast a spell over us and transport us to this world. After our journey through time together, you can draw your fresh impressions on paper yourself. Guieded tour for families in German.

1st day of the exhibtion "Viktor&Rolf"

The Kunsthalle München presents the first major retrospective on Dutch fashion artists Viktor&Rolf in Germany.

For more than three decades, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren have been exploring with breathtaking virtuosity the boundaries between the worlds of haute couture and art. Celebrated for their unconventional approach to design, their creations have been embraced by artists such as Madonna, Tilda Swinton, Lady Gaga, Doja Cat, and Cardi B and were staged in numerous ballets, as well as in an opera directed by Robert Wilson. Reflecting the duo’s passions, obsessions and singular vision, the spectacular scenography will showcase 100 of their most daring creations—many exhibited for the first time—along with numerous videos, sketches, dolls dressed in the designers’ iconic creations, and works by renowned visual artists like Andreas Gursky, Ellen von Unwerth and Herb Ritts.
