The Kunsthalle is wheelchair accessible. The lift in the foyer, entrance at Theatinerstrasse 8, will take you to the first floor. After presenting your admission ticket, there is another lift to the exhibition on the second floor.

Shop

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers! Editions by Kehinde Wiley, Studio Drift, Sarah Illenberger and Miguel Chevalier. Fine tea roses, delicately scented flower candles from Latvia and rose soap from Kew Gardens. Seeds for the bee meadow and edible flowers, growing floral greetings can be found in the store accompanying the Flowers Forever exhibit.
Mouth-blown unique vases by Marie Retpen. Delicate dried flowers in vibrant colors and artistic paper flowers by Studio About and Jurianne Matter. As the flower year continues, so does our store at the Kunsthalle! It’s worth coming back more than ever.

A selection of products is also available online.

You will find our shop in the FÜNF HÖFE under the Hanging Gardens. A joint project with MUSEUMGOODS.

Café & Restaurant Theatiner 8

“Cuisine meets art” at Theatiner 8 – with urban Bavarian cuisine in the restaurant (1st floor), the café with delicious cakes & pastries for a relaxed stay and the street sale (in the passage) for a quick snack in between or to take away.

You can look forward to a cosy modern ambience, food and drinks of regional origin as well as a cordial service that will take care of you professionally.

FAQ

Below you will find information on common questions in alphabetical order.

Audioguide

The exhibition is accompanied by a free audio tour (English/German). It can be accessed from home and in the exhibition using your own mobile device. Please bring your own headphones when you visit the exhibition.

Bags and backpacks

Bags (larger than DinA4) and backpacks are not allowed in the exhibition. Please use the coat check or a locker for this purpose.

Coat check

Coats, umbrellas, large bags and backpacks cannot be brought into the exhibition. While visiting the exhibition, you may drop these items off at the coat check for a fee of € 1.80. Additionally, we have 72 small lockers that can be used free of charge (deposit € 1, measurements: W 25 cm x H 49/40 cm x L 55 cm).

During the summer, the coat check may be closed due to low demand.

Corona

The 3G rule does no longer apply. To protect the health of all, we recommend to continue wearing a mask during their visit to stay at least 1.5 metres away from other visitors and Kunsthalle staff.

Coupons

Discount coupons for the Kunsthalle where sold until December 31, 2011. They were valid for four years and have expired on December 31, 2014, therefore they can no longer be accepted.

Guided Tours

The Kunsthalle offers a wide range of guided tours for different target groups. All information and current dates can be found under Guided Tours and in our Calender.

Lockers

We have 72 small lockers that can be used free of charge (deposit € 1, measurements: W 25 cm x H 49/40 cm x L 55 cm).

Nappy-changing facilites

A nappy-changing facility is located in the handicapped accessible restroom on the exhibit level.

Pets

Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the exhibition, with the exception of guide dogs for the blind.

Photography

Photography for private use and without flash is allowed. However, there may be exceptions if specific lenders do not grant permission for their works to be photographed.

Press ID

Holders of a valid press ID are entitled to reduced admission fees to exhibitions in the Kunsthalle. Please show your press ID at the ticket counter. Unfortunately, we cannot offer reduced admission to any accompanying persons without a press ID.

School classes

Visits for school groups are by appointment only, regardless of whether they include a guided tour; please register at least one week before your visit: T +49 (0)89 / 22 44 12.
Times are Mon, Wed to Sat 10 am to 8 pm A maximum of 20 pupils per group is permitted.

In addition to regular hours, the exhibition is open every Wednesday from 9 to 10am especially for school groups. During this time a maximum of 25 pupils are permitted.

Admission is € 2 per pupil. One teacher per class is admitted free of charge, one further teacher pays half the standard admission fee.

The Kunsthalle can arrange for art historians and other experts to provide guided tours of the exhibition. Prices for guided tours can be found here.

Seating

Sufficient seating is available in the exhibition and in the foyer. It is not possible to bring your own (folding) chairs.

Strollers

For visitors with strollers, the exhibition is accessible by elevator. An elevator leads from the ticket hall (entrance Theatinerstrasse) to the second floor. After showing the admission ticket, another elevator leads to the exhibition.

Tickets

Tickets can be purchased during opening hours at the ticket desk at our main entrance (Theatinerstrasse 8). Between exhibitions, the desk will be closed. However, tickets are always available through our online shop. The tickets are valid for one entry into the exhibition. Discounted tickets are also available online. However, proof of eligibility must be presented at your ticket desk.

Vouchers

Vouchers are available at the ticket desk at our main entrance and through our online shop. They are valid for 2 years.

Wheelchairs

The Kunsthalle is barrier-free. By the ticket desk, there is an elevator up to the main level. After showing your ticket to the guard at the entrance, they will call for the elevator that will bring you up to the exhibition level.

Three lockers at seat height are reserved for people in wheelchairs (deposit € 1).

Two wheelchairs can be borrowed from the coat check for use in the exhibition at no cost. It is not possible to reserve these in advance.
