Kunsthalle in Emden Hosted in Munich
19 January – 15 April 2007

Henri Nannen (1913–1990) was the founder and long-time editor-in-chief of Stern magazine. Together with his wife Eske (born 1942), he had the Kunsthalle in Emden built in 1986. Nannen wanted to share his passion for art with the public and therefore donated his extensive collection of works ranging from classical Modernism to contemporary art. In addition to Henri Nannen’s collection, the museum’s second focus is on the donation of contemporary art after 1945 by Munich gallery owner Otto van de Loo (1924–2015).
The Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung has presented this collection for the first time in Munich with over 100 paintings, works on paper, and sculptures.
