Christian Rohlfs 1849 – 1938 22 March – 16 June 1996 Along with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880–1938), Erich Heckel (1883–1970), Karl Schmidt-Rottluff (1884–1976) and Emil Nolde (1867–1956), Christian Rohlfs (1849–1938) is one of the most important representatives of Expressionism in Germany. This retrospective spanned Rohlf’s entire artistic development with some 90 paintings and 60 works on paper from over 50 German museums and private collections.
