Christian Rohlfs

1849 – 1938
22 March – 16 June 1996

Along with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880–1938), Erich Heckel (1883–1970), Karl Schmidt-Rottluff (1884–1976) and Emil Nolde (1867–1956), Christian Rohlfs (1849–1938) is one of the most important representatives of Expressionism in Germany. This retrospective spanned Rohlf’s entire artistic development with some 90 paintings and 60 works on paper from over 50 German museums and private collections. After the presentation in Munich, the exhibition was shown at the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal.
