Anders Zorn 1860 – 1920 24 January – 25 March 1990 Exhibition After the Kunsthalle Kiel, the 135 paintings and works on paper of the virtuoso Swede Anders Zorn (1860–1920) were shown in Munich. In his artistic work he enjoyed international success from the beginning. His first painting was purchased by the Luxembourg Museum in Paris in 1888, the year he created it. In 1895 he was sent to Chicago to set up the Swedish contribution to the World’s Fair. His paintings shown there met with enthusiastic approval. By the time he was forty, he was an international celebrity, his paintings were snatched from his hands, his etchings gained early recognition, especially in Germany, and he was respected and wealthy.
