Niki de Saint Phalle 26 March – 5 July 1987 Niki de Saint Phalle (1930–2002) gained international fame for her brightly colored polyester sculptures, especially the Nanas. The cheerful matriarchal counter-world that she created in her images of women occupies a unique position in post-war art.
