The German Romantics Images from 1800 – 1850 14 June – 1 September 1985 Exhibition As its opening exhibition, the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung (the Kunsthalle of the Hypo Cultural Foundation) organized German Romantics. Visual Themes from 1800–1850, in collaboration with the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen. Some 100 paintings and 40 works on paper from international private and public collections, illustrated how German Romantic painters viewed and experienced their surroundings. The exhibition’s narrative was divided into five themes: Portraiture – Interiors and Cityscapes – Nature Studies and Peasant Scenes – Landscapes – Literary Subjects.
