This catalogue offers an extensive survey of Sorolla’s life and work, Spain’s most famous painter of the late 19th century. Essays, by among others the exhibition’s curators Blanca Pons–Sorolla and María López Fernández, deal intensively with the various stages of his impressive career. A major focus lays on the artist’s international breakthrough in Paris. Short introductory texts cast a light on various topics such Sorolla’s landscapes and portraits.
