Der kühle Blick Realismus der Zwanzigerjahre 1. Juni – 2. September 2001 Ausstellung The opening exhibition of the new Kunsthalle in the Fünf Höfe complex brought together works by 70 artists. The show focused exclusively on painting, presenting not only the various trends in realist art of the 1920s in Europe, but also simultaneous developments in America. Paintings by Ivan Albright, Stuart Davis, Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe, Ben Shahn and Charles Sheeler were juxtaposed with European positions by Balthus, Max Beckmann, Giorgio de Chirico, Otto Dix, Fernand Léger, Tamara de Lempicka, Joan Miró, Amedeo Modigliani and Pablo Picasso, among others. Whether Neoclassicism, Novecento, New Objectivity, Magic Realism or Precisionism – all facets of realist painting were represented. Faltblatt zur Ausstellung Zur aktuellen Ausstellung der Kunsthalle
